Culloden & Cawdor Tour

Culloden Battlefield

Culloden Battlefield is the famed site of the last pitched battle to take place on British soil. The romance of the 1745 Jacobite Rising came to a tragic end when 1500 soldiers fell on the field of battle, leaving the rebellion in ruins.
At Culloden Battlefield you can discover the true story of the ’45 Rising by experiencing for yourself what the heat of battle was like through the centre’s 360-degree battlefield immersion theatre.
Take advantage of the guided tours offered regularly by experts at the visitor centre which will take you around the key areas of action that took place on that fateful day on the Moor. You can even get up close to valuable historical sites such as the 18th century Leanach Cottage and the memorial cairn that marks the final resting place of the men who fought and died there.

Cawdor Castle

After the thrills of the battlefield, we move on to the romantic Highland landmark that is Cawdor Castle. If fairytale Scottish castles are your thing then they do not come more beautiful than this 15th century home of the Thanes of Cawdor.
This centuries-old dwelling is full of romantic wonder, housing an impressive drawing-room with precious portraits of clan members adorning its walls and an antique dining room and kitchen that still holds many of the features from a Highland life alien to modern-day living.
The Castle is neatly nestled into an expansive, carefully clipped and cropped grounds which encompasses three stunning gardens, a luxurious forest, a challenging 9-hole golf course, and a terrific restaurant located in the castle itself.
