Eden Court Theatre – Provost Smith Memorial Chapel

Produced by Dogstar Theatre in partnership with Eden Court + Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, Writers from the Highlands and Islands were invited to submit brand new play ideas and extracts and Eden Court are presenting eight of them over four sessions. Each playwright will work with a director and a few actors for a day, then share what they’ve come up with! Here are two but the Spark weekend runs from the 18th – 21st Jan :

Fastlane by Gregor Mackenzie

After a chance meeting at a bar in the Scottish Highlands, bartender Zachary and former girl-bander Sapphire instantly connect, having clawed themselves back from hell-raising self-destruction. Will they help each other face their demons and make it out the other side, or will they continue down the Fastlane?

Doing The Rounds by Jack Hunter

Wullie ‘The Highland Postie’, now retired, meets his new Postie Laura, working the same round Wullie has worked for decades. This play examines the parlous state of the Royal Mail Postal Service. Will it collapse and disconnect our communities?
