What’s On Inverness In March?

March is upon us already. Spring would be in the air if it wasn’t being washed down the street by some sideways rain and a wind too lazy to walk ‘round you. With Mother’s Day on the horizon (you have been warned), we thought we would give you a taste of what other March events in Inverness might entice folk to brave the weather and make the most out of the month. If the weather does stay ropey, remember Inverness Taxis are here to get you there, safe and dry!

Sunday 1st March

Earth Kind Sunday Market  – Old High Church Hall

The Earth Kind market is back to provide locally-based ethical food and goods. On Sunday, you’ll get the opportunity to meet the makers and sample some of their food and fayre whilst enjoying the local music on show.

Entry is free and doors open 1100 – 1400

Friday 6th March

An Evening of Serial Killers  – Mercure Hotel

What could be better than an evening spent in the company of the world’s most notorious serial killers? At An Evening of Serial Killers join other true crime fans at the Mercure Hotel for talks involving the early lives of infamous killers like Ed Gein and Ted Bundy that may have led them to commit the crimes that would one day make the world call their mummy from under their bed. You’ll also get to hear a very informative lecture on how to spot a psychopath which might be what saves your life one day! My top tip for spotting a psychopath is if they’ve put a cream carpet in their living room- keep an eye on those folks.

Tickets are £19.99 and the event is 1915 – 2200 and there will be an interval for drinks and general paranoia.

Sunday 8th March

Inverness Half Marathon and 5k – Inverness

The invasion of Inverness by the industriously energetic is back and you can almost smell the sweat, sores and incredible charity work in the air already. As usual, there will be a 5k, ½ marathon and a ‘jings that looks tiring, good luck to them’ option for those wanting to run or just support participants on the day.

Events begin at 1230 and entry to the races themselves cost from £11 up.

More details can be found on the Inverness Half Marathon website

Sunday 8th March

King Creosote – Eden Court

Scotland’s favourite folk musician returns to the city with a live performance of his score for ‘From Scotland With Love’ which will be played in tandem with the film. This performance is sure to be a wonderful night as King Creosote and his fellow musicians transport you back in time to tell the stories of ordinary forgotten Scots, remembered through the timeless music of KC and company.

Tickets start at £29.50

Friday 20th March

Hayseed Dixie – Ironworks

The maniac mountain men are back to taunt Inverness with the genre of their own making ‘Rockgrass’. Hayseed Dixie combine elements of bluegrass, rock, punk and straight-up havoc to create one of the most high-octane gig experiences going. With a blend of original material and raucous covers of tunes by ACDC, Aerosmith, The Bee Gees and a range of other twisted hits, I can’t recommend this gig enough to anyone looking to party like the trailer park is on fire.

Tickets £20, please see the Ironworks website for more details and ticket info
